1. A Balloon Adventure by Magical Adventures


Magical Adventures offers romantic, one-hour hot air balloon rides. Green Acres Ranch started as a private family ranch in 1957. It covers 50 acres, and is open to the public today. Their weekly winter, spring, and summer horse camps are popular with kids, and visitors can book birthday parties or ranch rides. Therapeutic riding for people with disabilities or health issues is available as well.


Ranch rides last for about an hour and 15 minutes, and they include free photos and a safety lesson. If you’re 21 years old or more, you’ll also get a coupon for a tasting at a nearby winery after your ride.


3. The Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve


This beautiful, peaceful, 7,500-acre reserve contains oak woodlands, coastal sage scrub zones, riparian wetlands, bluegrass prairies, and vernal pools packed with life. Inside its borders, you can find more than 200 native bird species, almost 50 threatened, endangered, or rare plants, mountain lions, white-tailed kites, bobcats, badgers, mule deer, and fairy shrimp. Native Americans once lived in the area, and it was used for cattle ranching before it became protected. The Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve is only about 15 minutes from Temecula, at the southern tip of the Santa Ana mountains.


4. A Temecula Wine Tour


Temecula’s wine region is popular for its delicious vintages and spectacular scenery. You can take a tour with an experienced guide from several local companies. Temecula Valley Cable Car Wine Tours visits four local wineries in a fully restored San Francisco motorized cable car from 1914 or a 15-passenger limo bus. You can enjoy a picnic lunch, a premium wine tasting, and a souvenir wine glass. Group discounts are available, and you can make a reservation for a tour any day. They usually take place between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
